Hey guys. I want to discuss something that has been disappointing me. I considered leaving the Steven Universe Fandom and Rick and Morty Fandom. There are many reasons why though. It's pretty obvious what's been going on with these franchises.
Steven Universe: I'll first start with SU. I have never felt so disappointed in these pass years of this show's fandom. Of course, SJWs and then people sending death threats to artists when they draw a certain characters in different anatomy. Then we have fans insulting storyboard artists for drawing Lapis and Peridot together and not her with Amethyst; calling her a shipbaiter. She left twitter after this happened. Lastly there was something questionable the Crewniverse made that made them look as bad as the fandom; they released an art book with a Gym who looked extremely black. BLACKER than GARNET, completely stereotyped as in Disney 1940s style racism. The crew including Rebecca Sugar apologized for this certain art piece they removed the character off their books. I understand this show has this unique idea of bringing equality and unity with sexuality, race, and peace; but I'm going to be honest though. It seems this show has become more politically correct such as "killing is wrong", "war is bad", "lesbians should be more appreciated". I feel like this show has dried out these themes, I really get bored out of them. Finally the worse thing about this is the god awful use of hiatuses and StevenBombs. So far, over 150 days have passed and SU hasn't aired any new episodes ever since. This really dies out interest of the show with a hiatus THAT LONG. Yeah the show is heavily story driven but Cartoon Network isn't looking for entertainment like that. So it's debatable weather or not they would bring it back. All they care about is Teen Titans Go, Teen Titans Go, Teen Titans Go, Teen Titans Go, and of course....Teen Titans Go. So at this point, I give up. I give up of waiting for new episodes of Steven Universe. Let's not forget that nothing has ever happened. There's more filler than story driven with the plot's purpose, Homeworld War hasn't started, we still don't know who killed Pink Diamond, we don't know if Rose is a murderer, nothing has been answered after 5 seasons; leaving Steven with enigmas...like the state I am at the moment after certain events last week....So Steven Universe has now become this show leaving me into depression, anxiety and unfaithful how good this show used to be, with a Toxic fandom that's literally worse than Sonic, MLP, and Undertale, killing my interest and the show with it. Hell many fans left this summer so I don't blame them either.
Rick and Morty : I loved this show very much, especially the third season. But now the fandom has dropped like Titanic with fans praise Rick as this Messiah; screaming "PICKLE RICK" "WUBBA LUBBA DUP DUUUHHP" and "TINY RICK". For fuck sake, this is annoying now...oh and get this...every McDonald's around the country were invaded with Rick and Morty fans threatening waiters to have some of that "Szechuan sauce" that was only a limited offer when Disney's Mulan premiered in 1998. Now McDonalds were like "Hey with all this praise, we're bringing back szechuan sauce to your city!".....Are you serious. They're not blaming the Rick and Morty Fandom but themselves? That's scapegoating! You know, I honestly respect the creator's decision and words over the fandom has been upsetting him; making him want to give up on the show entirely. I can care less really, this show only aired 30+ episodes after 3 seasons and it has already hit me hard in the head with discouragement. Now this franchise has been on my mind for a bit if I should stop watching this show. It is great, fun and mind blowing, until you end up meeting fans saying "YOU HAVE TO BE SMART TO UNDERSTAND RICK AND MORTY". I may not be Einstein but calling me stupid makes me want to sit you the fuck down and tell you how arrogant you are.
So yeah, the irony of these 2 shows air on the same network, Cartoon Network along with Adult Swim. Yeah, Cartoon Network has now become the rock bottom of television with both bad air schedules and toxic fandoms. Now there is one good side that is going to replace these shows; after recent events that have been emotionally abusing me, I enjoy watching The Amazing World of Gumball more. This show has made me laugh harder than the Angry Beavers. I never felt so excited and entertained with this show in my life and I really don't want it to end anytime soon with only 5 seasons. At least a 6th season is under development, so fingers cross for more 4th wall destruction. MLP has been getting better due to Season 7's many use of fantastic episodes. I hope to see more in season 8, and I've been neutrally getting back into anime a little with a friend. So honestly, with I never left a fandom before, and this is the first time with 2 fandoms I enjoyed being in have discouraged me because of their immature actions. At least MLP's fandom has cool down from well "Alicorn Twilight", and other events. I wish maybe someday there can be a new franchise out there that can keep me happy and have a close friendship to knows who enjoy with together.
